Emacs der Alleskönner..

Vor ein paar Wochen habe ich mir die Mühe gemacht, den Emacs für Windows aus dem Netz zu laden. Das ist kein angenehmes Unterfangen bei einem Modem mit 56 kbit/s und einer 19 MB großen Datei. Aber die Mühe hat sich gelohnt. Emacs, das ist ein freier Editor, der...
...Bei Linux wird er standardmäßig mitgeliefert. Emacs unterliegt der GPL-Lizenz. Mittlerweile ist er schon über die Version 20 hinaus; ich benutze die Version 21.1.1. Das heißt, er ist ziemlich alt und das merkt man auch bei den unzähligen Tastenkombinationen, die einem bei der Arbeit unterstützen. Alles, was ihr unter Windows gelernt habt, könnt ihr vergessen. Gespeichert wird nicht mit STRG+S, sondern mit „C-x C-s“, was STRG+X und STRG+S hintereinander heißt. Und die ALT-Taste gibt es nicht, sondern die META-Taste (M). Und wenn man mehrere verschiedene Dateien bearbeitet, so füllen diese Dateien nicht verschiedene Fenster sondern Puffer aus. Fenster gibt es auch, nämlich wenn man die Emacs-Arbeitsfläche unterteilt, dann heißen die einzelnen Bestandteile Fenster. Wenn man diese (Denk-)Hürde überwunden hat und auch die wichtigsten Tastenkürzel gelernt hat, kann schon halbwegs bequem
