Hallo
...und kurzes Bemerkung zum Update... habe versucht, mich der durchaus konstruktiven Kritik zu widmen. Nur jeden Song zu zerpflücken würde immernoch einen Roman brauchen. Songtexte sind von mir liebevoll per Hand eingeschrieben. Und die paar Songs, die ich mir diesmal rausgewählt habe, ahben eine ganz speziele Bedeutung für mich. Nichts desto trotz ist das Album und die Musik meinerseits absolut zu empfehlen.......

Ich sage es Euch, auch wen vielleicht einige Bauklötze staunen, ob meiner Musikwahl....
Billy Joel... heißt der Mann...
Lange schon im Geschäft. Seine Musik hat mich mein Leben lang beleitet. Seien Texte berührten mich um so mehr, als das uns etwas verbindet.
Billy Joel und Sabo verbindet etwas?
Ja! Er wurde als William Martin Joel am 09.05.1949 geboren. (das ist es nicht) aber: Er ist mit Leib und Seele New Yorker und Long Islander.
Was verbindet mich nun mit ihm?
Da ich über 1 Jahr auf Long Island, N.Y. gelebt habe, habe ich viele seiner Songs um so mehr verstanden. Zumal ich bei einem Konzert mal den Zuruf bekam „it takes a girl from Germany to appreciate a song about Long Island“ (Es braucht ein Mädel aus Deutschland um einen Song über Long Island anzuerkennen) Gemeint war ein Song, der nicht auf der CD vorhanden ist. „the downeaster Alexa“ (den Text füge ich ganz am Ende ein, weil ich weiss, er gehört nicht zu der CD, ist mir aber wichtig!)
In ungeordneter Reihenfolge nun die Titel der Doppel CD:

als erstes habe ich mir „Allentown“ rausgesucht...
Und nur ein paar Zeilen (neugierig auf den Rest will ich ja machen)

Ich finde, das gerade in unserer Zeit, diese Zeilen mehr und mehr an Bedeutung gewinnen. Das Lied hat er ursprünglich auf dem Album „The nylon curtain“ (1982) veröffentlicht. Aber es spiegelt gerade heute Dinge wieder, die auch genauso gut in Hamburg, Emden, Braunschweig, Kasel, München... wo auch immer in Deutschland stattfinden könnten. Fabriken werden geschlossen. Familien stehen vor dem "AUS“.
New York State of Mind
Ist ein weiterer Titel, der mich schwer berührt… zumal ich Billy Joel den Song performen sah (leider im TV und nicht live) als es um die Anschläge auf das WTC am 11.09.2001 ging.

Das sagt sehr viel über die Mentalität der Amerikaner an sich, aber auch im speziellen der New Yorker aus.
New York scheint oft der Nabel der Welt. und siehe da... beim Anschlag auf das westliche Regime... welche Stadt wurde als Wahrzeichen eben dieser Symbolik getroffen? New York!

Möchte ich textmässig fast allein stehen lassen. Denn jeder liest es anders. Sieht andere Dinge darin und fühlt vielleicht auch andere Dinge.
Ich habe diesenSong damals meine Gasteltern gewidmet, weil ich ihn passend fand. Weil ich sie so liebte (und immer noch liebe) wie sie sind. Weil sie die Menschen sind, die sie sind.

....so, genau so habe ich unsere freundschaftlich familiäre Lieb erlebt. Wann immer ihnen oder mir etwas auf der Seele brennt, wissen wir, wem wir uns ohne Zweifel anvertrauen könne. Von wem wir auch ohne Schaden zu nehmen einen auf den Deckel bekommen...

Zum Abschluss eines meiner Lieblingslieder. Auch wenn Billy Joel das Ding seit 30 (!!!!!!) Jahren singt! Es wird nie langweilig und in einem Interview befragt, ob er müde wäre, dieses Lied zu singen... „no, not at all. When the crowd starts to join in, that’s a great feeling. And they know what’s coming up, as soon as I put on a special instrument!” (Nein, niemals. Wann immer die Menge anfängt mitzusingen, ist es ein großartiges Gefühl. Und sie wissen genau, wenn ich das spezielle Instrument aufsetze, dann geht der Song los...“
Dieses Instrument ist eine Mundharmonika... und der Song ist DER Song von und für Billy Joel:

Er spiegelt so sehr den Kampf eines Barmusiker wider, deer versucht, aus dem "kleinen" Dasein raus zu kommen...
Und auch die Geschichten seiner Zuhörer...

Wo sonst sollte sie ihre Meinung loswerden? Als am Arbeitsplatz, wo sie so viele unterschiedliche Menschen trifft.
Wenn dieser Song im Konzert ertönt und man ihn noch nie live gesehen hat, sollte man jetzt die Beine in die Hand nehmen. Sonst steht man sich an Bus & Bahn garantiert die Beine in den Bauch. Dieser Song ist bei Billy Joel IMMER der letzte Song....
Oh... das Album... ich vergaß es fast. Ich habe es geschenkt bekommen. Kann Euch also keinen Preis nennen. Für Leute, die Billy Joel gerne mögen, ist es sicherlich lohnenswert (sofern sie es nicht schon haben)
Musikalisch sehr schwer zu beschreiben, da das Spektrum von seinen Anfängen bis zur heutigen Zeit (na ja, bis Anfang 90er) reicht. Aber immer noch in die Kategorie „handgemachte solide starke gute Musik“ einzuordnen.
Billy Joel gehört für mich zu den facettenrecichsten Musikern dieser Zeit. Er verbindet einfach klassische Elemente unbemerkt mit Pop - Rock und Blues...
Nicht umsonst halten ihm seine Fans die Treue... und das seit Jahren
Nehmt es mir nicht übel, nicht jeden Song zerpflückt zu haben. Das ginge Richtung Roman!
